Yesterday I published a post talking about how I graduated with a degree at last. That got me thinking about goals. I think that it is important to have goals. I have some that are long term goals, like visiting every country in the world before I am dead, and short term like finishing my laundry before the weekend.
Some people make resolutions at New Years, lists on their birthdays or just promises to swear off alcohol after a night out with friends. Still more are felixiable things in the far off future, while others are constrained in a specific time frame. Making goals is easy, sticking with them and achieving them is the hard part.
The follow through, maintaining the motivation and drive to see you through. These are why goals matter. They give your life a sense of purpose. When you are wondering in no particular direction, they can provide you with a temporary map. Even lose structure can mean a world of difference if you do not know where your life is going at this point.
I think it is important to remember that, as long as we try and do are best, even if we do not accomplish our goals, at least we tried. At least we were brave enough to attempt to fulfill our dreams. At least we can look back and remember that we gave it our all. And sometimes that can make all the difference in the world.
What do you do when you have no idea where your life is going?
If you have the answer, let me know.
