I have talked about how I have PTSD, depression and anxiety. It’s the main reason why I started to blog, so I had somewhere to talk about what I am going through and what I have been through. Since my diagnoses and my decision to finally seek help, I have met others who suffer from mental illness. However, I have yet to meet anyone who suffers from all three.
This bothers me sometimes, because I feel like no one else truly knows the extent of what I am going through. That is why I was so happy when I found a video on the BBC website. As part of a series promoting mental health awareness, the BBC had interviewed several people who suffer from various forms of mental illness. One of them was a woman named Poppy.
Poppy has PTSD, depression and anxiety, just like me. She faces the same difficulties that I do everyday, and she’s finding ways to help others. Poppy trained for and eventually ran a marathon to raise awareness for people with mental illness and in an effort to improve here physical and mental health.
The fact that she did that, that she is out there setting goals for herself and conquering them, the fact that I am not alone mean the world to me. She inspires me. And some times, all you really need on a really bad day is some inspiration to give you hope to keep going.
If you would like to see a video about Poppy, you can find it here.
What do you do when you have no idea where your life is going?
If you have the answer, let me know.
